 'Kimmie Wearing (Grace) & Designing (Ariel) Kitten Couture' Kitten Couture Destination Decadence 04.11.08 Kitten Couture materialized on the shores of South Beach during a much needed vacation from all that was hectic in Manhattan. The vibrant hues of turquoise, teal and cream lent itself to finding a way to bring those colors together as a means to carry the ocean and all it entails. A Midwestern girl by birth with the soul and essence of the ocean and luxury resort in her heart, Kimmie Smith launched Kitten Couture in 2004. She was compelled to blend her love of natural stones with sea shells together as a means to present a Casual Glam lifestyle that allowed the pieces to be worn with jeans and a tank top or with the essential LBD; moreover, it was necessary that these pieces were lifestyle oriented and would be suitable to be worn while running errands, brunching with friends and of course a night on the town. As Kimmie continued to mature as a jewelry designer, she continued to expand her experiences over the years in the fashion industry as an intimate/bathing suit model, Visual Merchandiser for luxury brands and her current position as an Assistant to the VP in a luxury sportswear brand. Not only has Kimmie worked in the industry, but she has also become a leader as the Editor of See Pretty Things an accessories blog that provides your daily fix and was noted by Accessories Magazine as "The Best Accessories Blog of 2006". In time, Kitten Couture found its niche with lariat necklaces that are made from natural stones and sea shells. Many pieces incorporate her favorite stones such as Carnelian, Mother of Pearl (various hues), Snail Shell, Botswana Agate and Tiger Eye. It is Kimmie's belief that style should incorporate the look you have already acquired; moreover, you should have a way to customize your look even if you're not able to design yourself. To this end, Kitten Couture's pieces provide options by allowing the wearer to tie or wrap the necklace in various ways. This season, Kitten Couture is focused on Destination Decadence. Whether you're wearing these pieces to the beach, brunch or a benefit, you're perfectly styled. Expect a variety of hues and stones that will be incorporated into lariats that will play with depth and texture. There will be more tones of the ocean and colors that will be perfect for Spring and Summer. Currently, Kitten Couture is available on its website.
